India vs West Indies Full Squad, Date, Venue & Schedule: After ICC World Cup 2019 completion, a major tournament has just kick-off, where team India has traveled all along to the Caribbean for a full series which is going to comprise of two Tests, three T20Is and 3ODIs. The tournament has started from August 3 and the first two T20Is is going to be played in the USA and then the last T20I will be played in Guyana.
Former Indian team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni made himself “unavailable” for the tour of West Indies in order to serve his paramilitary regiment.
A senior BCCI official told PTI earlier said that Dhoni is an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Territorial Army, “We would like to clarify three things. MS Dhoni is not retiring from cricket right now. He is taking a two-month sabbatical to serve his paramilitary regiment which he had committed much earlier. We have now intimated his decision to skipper Virat Kohli and chairman of selectors MSK Prasad,”
At the time of selecting West Indies squad for the tournament, Interim chairman of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Selection Panel, Robert Haynes, said in an official statement, “This squad is an excellent balance of experience and youth,”
He also said, “We felt that players like Narine and Pollard, who have played well in T20 leagues around the World, once they are fit and mentally ready to play, we must give them the opportunity to represent the West Indies again.”
